Overall is a good Hawaiian food in the area. Lumpia is great! Enjoy fried chicken and pulled pork. Mac&cheese salad is brand. Need more seasoning. The kimchi is not quite fermented as expected. Would love it to be more spicy and fermented. Will be back again for sure!
Overview
Walking into Hula Boy Charbroil feels like stepping into a neighborhood spot that knows exactly what itβs doing. Iβve eaten at plenty of diners across the Pacific Northwest, and this one stands out for how relaxed it feels while still taking food seriously. The smell of charbroiled beef hits you first, followed by the sound of orders flying from the grill. Itβs casual, a little noisy, and very honest-exactly what you want from a local grill joint.
The location at 11820 NE Fourth Plain Blvd Ste G, Orchards, WA 98682, United States is easy to get to, with steady foot traffic from locals who clearly treat it as a regular stop rather than a once-in-a-while splurge. On one visit, I watched a construction crew, a family with kids, and a couple of retirees all ordering different things off the same menu. That kind of mix usually says a lot about consistency and value.
The menu leans heavily into charbroiled classics, and thatβs where this place earns its reputation. Burgers are cooked over open flame, giving them that slightly smoky crust that food scientists often associate with the Maillard reaction, the same process cited by the USDA as key to developing deep savory flavor in grilled meats. You taste it immediately. The patties are juicy, the buns hold up, and the toppings donβt overpower the beef. One server mentioned they keep the process simple on purpose, focusing on timing and temperature rather than complicated seasoning blends.
Beyond burgers, the menu includes grilled chicken, plate lunches, and sides that feel familiar without being boring. I once ordered a chicken plate expecting something basic, and it came out evenly charred, moist, and well-seasoned. According to CDC food safety guidelines, poultry needs to reach an internal temperature of 165Β°F, and the kitchen here clearly knows how to hit that mark without drying things out. That kind of execution usually comes from experience rather than shortcuts.
Reviews from regulars often mention consistency, and that lines up with what Iβve seen. A longtime customer told me they stop by at least once a week because the food tastes the same every time, in a good way. That reliability matters, especially for diners who donβt want surprises. Itβs also why this spot keeps strong ratings across multiple review platforms, where comments frequently highlight portion size, friendly service, and reasonable prices.
What really ties the experience together is the staff. Orders are taken quickly, questions about the menu are answered without attitude, and food comes out fast even during busy hours. Thereβs a confidence in how the team moves, which reminds me of how well-run grills operate when everyone knows their role. Itβs the kind of place where you hear someone at the counter say best burger in Orchards and no one argues.
There are limitations worth mentioning. Seating can feel tight during peak lunch hours, and if youβre looking for trendy dΓ©cor or experimental flavors, this isnβt that kind of restaurant. But thatβs also part of its charm. It focuses on doing a few things well rather than trying to impress with gimmicks.
For anyone exploring local diners, grill houses, or casual restaurants in Orchards, this spot delivers exactly what it promises. The flavors are bold without being complicated, the menu is approachable, and the atmosphere stays welcoming no matter how busy it gets. When people talk about real charbroil flavor, this is the kind of place they mean.

Excellent service and atmosphere, definitely had a Hawaiian vibe and smell. Food and drinks were overall decent and I will definitely be returning. They are located across the street from the Golden Corral, near the Grocery Outlet in Vancouver near HWY 500
Large portions. Had bbq beef and chicken combination with corn and macaroni salad for sides. All served one plate. Enough for two medium sized appetites. Ate half and took home half. Very tasty bbq meat!
It has been two years since my family and I ordered from this restaurant. I forgot how great the food is. The meat was full of flavor. And the coleslaw gave a wonderful crunch to the meal. We got take out and didn't get a chance to eat inside. Next time we have too. The restaurant was busy that day of almost every table was occupied.
One of my favorite Hawaiian restaurants! My wife and I share a combo meal. With an extra scoop of Mac salad and it feeds us fine! Their Caribbean jerk sauce at every table has just the right heat to it! If you are adventurous try the spam, hot dog and linguica meal. Fire fire!
Located in the Evergreen Station shopping center. This super casual hole in the wall Hawaiian BBQ experience is definitely a must-have if you're wanting Hawaiian Char-Broil BBQ. Generous portions, quality food and outstanding customer service. Would definitely recommend and will be coming back frequently. One tip I can offer you is if you're able to get in a little early for lunch. We arrive at 11:45 we were able to get a table. There was a line out the door by the time we left.
